Contact wheels are an important element for achieving perfect surfaces and results when belt grinding. Contact wheel and grinding belt need to be compatible: Stiff or hard X-belts are used with hard contact wheels, soft J-belts are used for soft contact wheels. Recoating of worn coatings is possible with all types and this is a service we offer.
Depending on the application, contact wheels with hard or soft coatings are recommended. Also grooves or groove pattern of a contact wheel is an important factor to consider. The flexibility of the contact wheel is achieved by the hardness of the coating and -in some cases- by the height of the coating.
