IMM Robotic cells for belt sanding, belt grinding, polishing, scotching, burnishing, brushing deburring or milling of various work pieces such as sinks, faucets, trim parts, fittings, aircraft engine inlet cowls, etc.
Our robotic cells can be configured with a wide variety of tools for belt grinding, belt sanding, polishing, brushing and deburring/milling.
Our standard tool stations are also available individually for integration into existing cells. In our VECTOR robotic cells processing pressure is measured and maintained by means of a 6D measuring head. Precise and robust pressure and force control of all vectors in space and perfect grinding and polishing results.
IMM robot cells are available in two different versions: Tool guided processing or work piece guided processing. In the tool guided version, the robot can be fitted with tool units for belt unit grinding, polishing, scotching/satin finishing.
Quick-change coupling for the fast changing of processing units.
Replacement magazine for the intake of processing units.
For work piece guided processing the robot guides the work piece to the processing stations such as the grinding, polishing and scotch stations.
The amount of processing stations depends on the required processing steps and is thus individually
adaptable.
HSK tool magazine for robotic cell. Picture shows fiber brushes (Tampico and synthetic) used for polishing stainless steel bowls for kitchen sinks.
Tool magazine featuring belt heads with slack belt units, various size contact wheel units and brushing units. Robot access through automatic sliding door for auto tool unit pick-up allows for changing of consumables (belts and brushes) whilst robot is in operation. Grinding and polishing pressure is controlled pneumatically in vertical and horizontal direction by means of proportional valve.

Using a robot for grinding, finishing, linishing and deburring processes requires precise and dependable force control to maintain the right grinding/polishing pressure.
IMMs own IMMTechForceControl™ (ITFC) is a sophisticated high-tech active grinding, sanding, deburring and polishing pressure/force control system. Integrators throughout the world count on the outstanding reliability of this system and use IMM units in their cells for polishing, linishing, milling, deburring and belt grinding work pieces such as knifes (Swiss and German main brands), turbine engine parts, engine inlet cowls, automotive components, trim parts, jewelry, watch cases, etc.
IMM is the name integrators trust when it comes to robust polishing, grinding, deburring and sanding units for robotic cells – worldwide. IMM belt grinding and sandnig units are also used on large lathes as attachments for example on turbine rotor lathes.
Below are some examples of our EOAT (end of arm tooling) units as well as stationary units for the use in robotic cells.
