Contact wheel holders with quick-change adaptor. The right contact wheel is an important factor in any belt grinding application. We will help you regarding the type of material being ground, amount of stock to be removed and finish requirements. There are various contact wheel types to choose from in terms of hardness, serration, groove pattern, etc.

Lathe mounted belt grinding or an abrasive belt roll grinding, polishing and finishing principle and machine requirements do not vary usually from established grinding wheel procedures.
Largely, the difference lies in the capability of an abrasive belt to cut faster and as a result, to be used at higher feed and traverse speeds.
The accuracy lies in the machine itself. Thus, a lathe that is used for producing tolerances to 0,025 mm (.001”) with a tool bit set-up, the IMM belt finishing machine designed for mounting onto a lathe can be expected to preform within the same range with an abrasive belt attachment.
On large lathes, the IMM belt finishing and grinding machine can be mounted on the compound or on the Multifix tool holder, as shown in the example picture.
